Domain name

A domain name is the site's address, used by browsers to find it, for example "example.com". It's a different thing from hosting, which is where the site's files physically live.

Whose name it should be registered under

A domain should be registered in your own name or your company's, not the developer's. That way it stays under your control even if you switch developers.

How it gets renewed

A domain is usually registered a year at a time and renewed automatically or by hand. If renewal is missed, the name can become available and get taken by someone else.

Price

A Finnish .fi domain typically costs around €10–20 a year depending on the registrar.
