Hourly billing
With hourly billing, work is invoiced by time spent rather than an agreed total. It fits best when the scope isn't known in advance.

When hourly billing makes sense
When the work is fixing an existing site you didn't build, the scope can't be known until the problem has been investigated. A fixed price wouldn't be fair to either side in that case.
What to ask before starting hourly work
It's worth asking for a time estimate and transparent hour tracking. A free initial diagnosis before the real work starts gives a rough sense of scope before the clock starts running.

Examples: fixes on sites built by someone else, €60–80/h. Content changes under a maintenance plan, €30/h.
